HOAX CALLS AND ARSON
What is arson?
Arson is the crime of setting fire with the intent to cause damage. Deliberately setting light to buildings and cars can put yours and other people’s lives at risk. Although starting fires outdoors or setting fire to rubbish, dumped furniture or recycling bins seems less dangerous, fire can spread quickly and destroy nearby property or fencing.
Arson is against the law. Anyone found guilty of setting fires on purpose could face a fine and a prison sentence and have it on their criminal record for the rest of their life.
If our crews are responding to fires started deliberately, they are unavailable to attend other emergencies. Our fire appliances can only be in one place at one time. The delay could mean the difference between life and death.
Don't start fires deliberately. It's a waste of precious time and resources and puts people's lives at risk.

Hoax Calls
Most people think there are hundreds of fire engines available for emergency calls, therefore if someone makes a hoax call it doesn't matter as they won't miss one fire engine. This isn't the case. Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has 25 fire stations with 41 fire engines across both counties!
If our crews are responding to hoax calls, they are unavailable to attend real emergencies. The delay could mean the difference between life and death.
Don't make hoax calls. It's a waste of precious time and resources and puts people's lives at risk.
